New book by Cornish author, Bob Richards

Cornish Pioneers Cover

Cornish Pioneers and the odd Villain is the new book by Cornish author and CFHS member, Bob Richards. It tells fourteen very different stories about Cornish men and women who have gained fame, fortune and even notoriety. The stories relate to a wide variety of achievement by Cornish folk in areas as diverse as the forests of the Great Lakes region of Canada to the mines of Australia and South America and many other locations where Cornish folk are to be found.

Cornishmen including John Goyne, who went from St. Agnes to become an Australian gold rush pioneer, John Wynne from Falmouth and his epic journey to seek the North West Passage as a trade route to India and Elizabeth Uren, the girl from St. Keverne who hauled herself and her family across oceans and desolate 19th century America to follow her Faith.

All this plus a wife murderer and a fraudster and many more, this book is a must for the Christmas stocking of anyone with an interest in Cornwall. A limited number of copies, personally signed by the author is available now through our online shop at the special price of £11.00 plus p&p.
