StoryThe news of the death of Captain Edward Ambrose Gordon Rogers came as a great shock to the inhabitants of Falmouth and district on Monday. On Sunday the young officer's father, Mr. Reginald N. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers left Falmouth by the night mail train, butr a later wire conveyed the sad intelligence of their son's death. It appears that on Friday Captain Rogers, who was attached to the Cornwall R.G.A. 93rd Seige Battery, was riding a motor cycle with a brother officer in the side car. He was rounding a corner near the camp at Lydd when he collided with a heavy motor. The deceased was thrown off the cycle and was very seriously injured, Lieutenant Trewhella, who was in the side car, escaping unhurt, Captain Rogers was taken to the Helena Hospital, Shorncliffe, where it was found that one of hhis legs was so badly broken and injured that it was necessary to amputate the limb. The operation was performed, but Captain Rogers never recovered consciousness. At the inquest held on Tuesday a verdict of accidental death was returned.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||
