Boscawen Street, St Nicholas Street and King Street form, in 1979, the central area of Truro. Boscawen Street as it now exists is comparatively modern. However, the name St Nicolas Street goes back to at least the 13th century when a deed of 1278 mentions houses in St Nicholas Street of which the Fraternity of St Nicholas was overlord.
