Gwinear is situated in the Deanery and Hundred of Penwith. It is bordered by Gwithian to the north, Camborne to the north and east, Crowan to the east and south and St Erth and Phillack to the west. This parish lies on high ground south-west of Camborne. Villages and hamlets within the parish are the churchtown, Coswinsausin, Drannock, Fraddam, Tregortha, Rewala, Relistian, Carnhell Green, and Wall. The civil parishes of Gwinear and Gwithian are combined to form Gwinear-Gwithian in 1934.
