Helston, which includes the old municipal borough, is situated in the Deanery and Hundred of Kirrier (Kerrier). It is bordered by Wendron to the north and east, Mawgan-in-Meneage and Gunwalloe to the south and Sithney to the west. In the Domesday Book of 1086, it is called the ‘manor of Henlistona’. The Borough of Helston was originally the main town in Wendron ecclesiastical parish but in 1865 a separate parish of Helston was created for the Borough. The Workhouse of the Helston Union used to be in Meneage Street.
A tribute to those brave people of Cornwall who served or laid down their lives in both World Wars and subsequent conflicts.
