Lanreath is situated in the Deanery and Hundred of West. It is bordered by St Pinnock to the north, Duloe, Pelynt and Lansallos to the east, St Veep to the south and St Veep and Boconnoc to the west. It is located north-west of Fowey. The only village in this parish is the churchtown. Herodsfoot village was partly in this parish however Herodsfoot parish was created as a separate parish from part of Lanreath in 1851.
