Library Holdings and Journal Contents
It is possible to search the CFHS library holdings that are held in Truro. If you would like photocopies of a particular item, contact our research service. Be aware that copyright restrictions may apply. Journal contents can be searched in the same way. CFHS Journals up to Journal 31 are indexed. A CD is available from our online shop that covers Journals 1 to 30.
The Cornubian Index
This list of Cornish travellers appeared in The Cornubian newspaper. The 1911 – 1916 period has been transcribed and published resulting in a list, in surname order, of over 2000 names of Cornish people who travelled to or from America and stayed en route at Sid Blake’s hotel in New York. Surname, forename, date of travel, where travelling from and to are given.
Cornwall Gazetteer
This is a compilation of addresses and place names throughout Cornwall that are noted in the censuses. It provides an indication of how farm names and hamlet names etc. changed over the decades.
Strays
These are people of Cornish birth who are recorded outside their home county. For example, someone who married in Plymouth would be recorded in a Devon register.

This is a useful list which might help to explain the disappearance of family members, or even whole families, from records.
